Twilight, the book

So, what to say about Twilight the book? I started reading it because my cousin told me it was a nice story about a vampire and a human who fell in love. The concept is cliché (but everything's cliché nowadays) and the book didn't seem to appeal me that much until chapter 18. I found it boring and...well boring. Bella never convinced me as the female lead and I felt I was watching those teen movies/series about the new girl in town. Bella Sawn is just a regular and unattractive girl who happens to move in to Forks to live with her father Charlie. Like hundreds of other teenagers Bella feels misplaced, I mean she left her mother, her friends and her home in Phoenix to live in a small town with the father she never really got to know. Charlie turns out to be a very good character opposite his daughter. Once in Forks Bella isn't bullied like we might think she would (she's the new girl, she trips and falls all the time and yet she's a freaking superstar), oh no she actually manages to draw the attention of none other than Edward Cullen, the hot single vampire on the block. Okay now the book turns from Bella's constant whining about moving to this shitty town and having to make new friends to Bella's constant hormonal thoughts about Edward. I get it...Edward is the most handsome man on the planet but...come on...Anyways Bella realises Edward is weird and starts to search information about the Cullens and about well...people like Edward (if you can call them people). She finally finds out he's a vampire and that should be the most interesting part of the book but you know what? Bella ruins everything (I never thought I would see one single character ruin so many things in my life.) she accepts the truth as if it were completely normal to find a freaking vampire walking around the street. For crying out loud! She's in a car in the middle of the night with a stranger who happens to be a vampire (okay...a hot vampire but a vampire nonetheless) and she tells him it's fine??? What...the Hell! She didn't scream, she didn't find it weird, she didn't ask questions, she just accepted the fact naturally. That's bullshit. So after that I stopped reading for a couple of days. Then we got to know the other Cullens. I liked them...honestly. I liked Carlisle (a lot) and the others too. I liked Rosalie's coldness, Esme's kindness, Alice's weirdness, Emmett's playfullness and Jasper's...(whatever Jazz is). They make a nice vampire family but then again there's nothing more than information about the characters until chapter 18 when James, Victoria and Laurent show up. That's the best part of the book to me. The baseball game is interrupted and the hunt begins. Bella finally shows some human emotions when she's worried about her parents and scared that they might die because of her. The end is kind of boring again. Like the selfish little girl she is, Bella tries to convince Edward to turn her into a vampire because she loves him so much, even though they hardly know each other. Now I wish Steph Meyer had ended the story there and made Bella's wish come true, that way I wouldn't have to put up with Breaking Dawn. But that's another story...So if you want to waste your time and money reading an average book, read Twilight. If you prefer to see the movie...be my guest because I think it's a very good adaptation but let's face it...this is not a great book, it doesn't even comes close. Don't let yourself be fooled by the popularity of this saga, for your own good.

Twilight Dilemma

People don't seem to understand how can somone read all the books and watch all the films from the Twilight Saga and call herself an Anti-Twilight Fan. Yes, I'm a fan or should I say it I'm an Antwilight Fan because I simply hate what Mrs. Meyer did in her last book. I've gotta be honest, she did well until Eclipse, but Breaking Dawn...What the hell! Breaking Dawn deserves a post of its own. The Twilight Saga is cliché at first, gets better in New Moon and Eclipse and it's ruined by Breaking Dawn. I'm an open-minded person. I prefer books and films about historcial events (I've got a degree in History for a reason) but I grew up watching Buffy and Angel and I can't be blamed for trying with Twilight, right? I mean I did read Harry Potter and The Lord of The Rings. I even enjoy The Chronicles of Narnia. So I tried Twilight and although it interested me at first I got bored and I hated the end. I don't hate the story, the characters or even the name Renesmee (although it's the most stupid name in the history of novels), I just can't accept what the author did to her work by writing Breaking Dawn. I mean seriously? Is that what she really wanted to do with the story? It's really hard to believe. Sorry...By the way, Vampires Suck is awesome. Check it out.
